No One Left Behind

COLUMBIA, Mo 02/12/15 (Letter)
-- I am working with Welcome Home and the Truman VA in Columbia to end Veteran homelessness.

Broadcast on KOMU TV January 28, the documentary on Veteran Homelessness – No 1 Left Behind – is a powerful story about our heroes and their struggles after their service.

Shelly Silvey
at KOMU TV put all this together, and there is a great back story. Shelly found Justin Coil, a local man from Harrisburg featured in the story, on the street and she offered him a job at KOMU. He helped produce the video.

Justin is now working part-time at KOMU and going to school full-time at Mizzou.

To ensure that all Veterans are served with No 1 Left Behind, our group is raising money to build a Community for Veterans that will contain an emergency shelter, supportive services center, and permanent housing.

We have reached our funding goal for the permanent housing, 25 apartments called Patriot Place – Apartments for Veterans. We are only halfway there with completing the Community for Veterans. We need to finish the mission, to complete a new Welcome Home emergency shelter and supportive services center.

The great news is we have operational funding from the Truman VA and other sources to run the Welcome Home facility once it is built. Please watch our short video about Veteran homelessness and share it with others.
