Jurors decide in Columbia's favor in case filed by former KOMU reporter

COLUMBIA, Mo 7/15/13 (Beat Byte) -- Nearly nine years ago, University of Missouri journalism student Hayley Sherga claimed she was hit by a city bus.

Now, a Boone County jury has ruled in favor of the City of Columbia in a personal injury lawsuit.

Sherga -- who worked as a reporter at KOMU and who now lives in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area -- claimed the bus hit her while she was walking on a sidewalk near the Mizzou Student Recreation Center on Rollins Road in Dec. 2004.

Represented by Columbia attorney Bill Rotts, Sherga filed suit in March 2009.

Jurors heard from Columbia neurologist Allyn Sher, MD and John Selhorst, MD, a professor of neurology and psychiatry at St. Louis University.

The case went to trial in December.
