Celebrating Mother Earth

--  Earth Day 2015 returns this Sunday to Columbia, a "rain day" rescheduling from April 19.  

Staged along Peace Park on Elm Street between 9th and 6th Streets, the popular annual fair includes the Eco Avenue, Kids’ Park, Volunteer Way, Music and Dance, Climate Focus, and a Food Court on 7th St.  Vendors, non-profit groups, and businesses will hold demonstrations during the celebration, which starts at noon and ends at 7 pm.

Highlights on the Peace Park stage include
the Grant Elementary 4th and 5th Grade All Stars Choir and Drum Ensemble; Sutu Forte; and The Nutbutts (Violet VonderHaar’s Musical Kids) between 12-2 p.m.;  Come Together, Save the Climate; Dancearts of Columbia; Merry Ellen Kirk; and The Baraka Project from 2 p.m.-4 p.m.River Ghost Revue; Dave Dearnley; Anna Duff and Her Spring Fling; Sam D’Agostino and the Dirt Road Junkies from 4 p.m.-7 p.m.

Sponsors include the Peace Nook, Peaceworks’ Center for Sustainable Living, Sustain Mizzou, 89.5 KOPN, Mizzou Energy Action Coalition, and the MU Sustainability Office. 

The event is always crowded, so attendees are asked to leave their canine friends at home, (with a promise of the 2015 Paws in the Park celebration to come)!
