COLUMBIA, 12/5/11  (Beat Byte) --  A once public favorite -- Regan's Riverhill Garden Nursery south of Columbia just off Route K -- could become a gas station under a rezoning proposal Columbia City Council members will automatically pass on their "Consent Agenda" Monday night.

Green Thumb Properties, LLC has applied for a zoning amendment that would add restaurants, gas stations, convenience stores, car washes, day care centers, and storage facilities to uses permitted for the 2.5 acre parcel at the southwest corners of Routes K and S, and which is currently restricted to greenhouse or garden center usage.

Buck and Sherry Smith purchased the land from Bill Regan.  Columbia's Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously recommends Council approval.
